Friday January 14, 2011

Today we went to visit grandma Tallulah and aunt Tresha in Palatka. Monday is Grandma's birthday, and Shona wanted to spend some time with her mom. Charles brought along his laptop and worked in the car, and in grandma's house. Shona, Isaac, Grandma & Tresha went to lunch together at the Golden Corral. After they got back, we went to visit Elizabeth (Lib) & Bentley Gibson. Lib is a dear sweet friend who fell and broke her hip over a year ago. Isaac and Daddy took a walk around the block, and visited papas old land surveying office. Late that afternoon, we went to a wake in Melrose, for Shona's aunt Rena. We saw many of the Vincent Family members. We stopped by Janna's daycare business on the way home. After this we stopped and ate near Jacksonville, and then Charles and Isaac watched Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. Thank you Lord for a safe and good day together as a family.

Today was a big day for the Shough Family. It was the finalization adoption hearing for Valor Reformanda Shough. It was in the judges chamber at the Duval County Courthouse. The judge was the Honorable Lance Day. His first case as a judge, when he was sworn in, many years ago, was an adoption. His is very fond of families adopting children. He welcomed us taking pictures, asking questions, and taking our time in his chamber. Judy Setzer was the attorney, and Glenda from the adoption agency were both onsite. It was a short 15 minute hearing and the judge ruled favorably for us. The Lord had already prepared the way. Here are some pictures of the day. After the hearing we met Shona's mom, Tallulah, her sister Tresha, and her grandma Doris at Biscotti's Restaurant in Jacksonville.

Sunday January 9, 2011

Today is the Sabbath, and we celebrated by having church and fellowship with God's people. Our church, Christian Heritage Family Fellowship gathered together in our home. We had a wonderful fellowship meal together after church and extended time together.

Saturday January 8, 2011

Today our family spent most of the day preparing our home for Church on Sunday. It is always a blessing to be able to share the gifts, the Lord has given to us. We continually pray that the Lord would use our home as a place of hospitality, worship, ministry, education and business. He has been faithful in doing this.

Friday nights at the Shough's are labeled Family Fun Night. This evening we went to Jacksonville for dinner, and needed to pickup some items from Costco. Church and fellowship will be at our house on Sunday. We ate at Carraba's Restaurant, and ran into our friends, Patrick and Leslie Geisenburg, who were on a date. After we got home, we watched Davy Crockett and the Wild Frontier. This was the first time for Isaac and I. We really enjoyed it, but obviously the ending was a little sad, but inspiring.

Tuesday January 4, 2011

Today, after I was finished with work, Isaac and I left the house to spend some time together. We drove to Goffinsville Park on SR 107, Fernandina. It was the first time that we had been there. We had a good time looking east over the intracoastal waterway, and the marshes. We walked down on the boat ramp and watched some folks fishing. We went over and explored the play area and swung on the swing-set. After this we took a walk down the nature trail, that wound it's way past the marshes, and through the woods. We discovered that Goffinsville used to be the home to a Seafood processing plant and canning factory, and there used to be a general mercantile, and a AME church on the property. It was a nice day for the this. The temperature was in the 60's, with partly cloudy skies. After we left the park, we went to Starbucks, where Isaac got a piece of chocolate chip banana cake, and a vanilla milk. We took momma home a cup of decaf. Isaac and I enjoyed our time together, and it was time well spent.

Back to work & school today after some time off during the 4th quarter holiday season. Thought I would post some picture of Valor. Our final hearing for the adoption is next Monday January 10.

Sunday January 2, 2011

On this first Sabbath of the new year, our family worshipped at Christian Heritage Family Fellowship. We are all still recovering from the flu, and took naps when we came home. Shona and I spent time in the afternoon, writing down or visions and goals for 2011. Our goals include Pistols & Passports.:) You never know, when you might need either of them. We are also praying and asking the Lord for a little girl or girls this year. There are many travels, that we would like to take this year, Lord willing. We anticipate the coming year!!

New Year's Day - 2011

On Saturday January 1, 2011, we met most of our immediate family at my sister's (Belinda) and her husband's (Billy) property on Fernandina Beach. The occasion, of the meeting, was to spread some of the ash remains of my mom, Tava, at this location. This was one of her wishes before she died on September 12, 2010.
